Core Ensemble at Home in Florida

Palm Beach County, Florida, is home base for the Core Ensemble. The ensemble members are Artists in Residence at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Lake Worth Beach, providing ongoing cultural programming throughout the year. Reaching out to the community with performances, school programs, lecture-demonstrations and community conversations, the ensemble collaborates with an eclectic group of community partners:

  • Glades Central High School
  • The Lake Worth Interfaith Network
  • Compass LGBT Community Center
  • The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum
  • The Farmworker Coordinating Council
  • The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee
  • Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church
  • BLAST Women’s Group (Bi-, Lesbian and Straight Together)

With a diversity score of 91 out of 100, Palm Beach County is much more diverse than other US counties. Lake Worth Beach, in particular, has a high percentage of citizens born outside the United States, and whose first language is not English. Our city and surrounding communities are filled with the diverse populations that our programs are targeting. As touring artists, the ensemble members see this diversification taking place in communities around Florida and around the U.S.; our home community is the perfect environment for the creation of chamber music theatre that celebrates diversity and social justice.

The Core Ensemble local residency programs are supported by the Florida Department of State Division of Arts and Culture, the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, and an anonymous private foundation.
