We Continue – The Tangled Roots of Native American Women’s History, is a chamber music theatre work exploring the lives of three heroic indigenous women: 1) Sacagawea, Shoshone guide and interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition, 2) Zitkala-Sa, Yankton Dakota writer, musician, educator and voting rights activist, and 3) Wilma Mankiller, the first female chief of the Cherokee nation. Music by Native American and women composers illuminates the dramatic scenario.
